Mr. Paul Velat
Mr. Velat ("Mr. V") has been at St. Pius since 2004, and he is proud to be a part of this great community of teachers, parents and students. Mr. Velat received his M.A. in music theory and composition from Roosevelt University in 2004. In addition to teaching at St. Pius, Mr. Velat owns and operates his own private lesson studio in Lombard. Mr. Velat is also a working musician and performance artist who performs nationally and internationally. He resides in Chicago with his wife and cat. Mr. Velat also teaches technology to our students in kindergarten through fifth grade.
Mrs. Erin Tuttle
Mrs. Tuttle grew up attending St. John the Baptist School in Winfield and St. Francis High School in Wheaton. She graduated from the University of South Carolina-Upstate with a degree in Corporate Fitness and Women's Studies in 2004 where she was a student athlete on the volleyball team. After graduation, while working in St. Louis, she realized she missed working with the young and pursued a degree in Physical Education. Ms. Kopec also coaches high school and club volleyball and is thrilled to begin her teaching career at St. Pius X.
Mrs. Malu Popernik
Mrs. Popernik has taught at St. Pius since 2002. She is a graduate of Anahuac University, A Legionaries of Christ College in Mexico City, Mexico. Mrs. Popernik is a parishioner at St. Pius and lives in Lombard with her husband Ron and their three children all three of whom graduated from St. Pius. As both parent and teacher, Mrs. Popernik firmly believes that the children's faith and self esteem must be nurtured along with their academic efforts. She is very proud to be part of a wonderful community that puts God first.
Mrs. Lynn Kirchoff
Mrs. Kirchoff graduated in 1989 from the University of Illinois, Chicago, with a B.A. in Education. Both of her children, Michaela and Matthew, are graduates of St. Pius and she is a strong proponent of Catholic education. Mrs. Kirchoff has previously worked in our Learning Resource department and is excited to work with our junior high students.
