Staff Grades One Through Five

Grade One

Ms. Lindsey Bell
Ms. Bell graduated from Elmhurst College with a bachelor's degree in elementary education in early 2008. Teaching has always been her calling, and she truly enjoys working with children as she guides them through their learning and successes. Ms. Bell began her teaching career at St. Pius X Parish School in 2008.

Mrs. Carol Christophe
Mrs. Christophe joins our staff from St. Peter the Apostle School in Itasca where she had taught second grade since 1999. Her four children were graduates of St. Peter's School. Mrs. Christophe is an active member of the St. Peter the Apostle Parish. She also taught second grade at St. Stanislaus Kostka in Chicago. Mrs. Christophe is a graduate of Northeastern Illinois University. She holds a B.A. in both elementary and special education. Mrs. Christophe loves working with children and enjoys helping them grow in their faith as they become responsible followers of Jesus.

Grade Two

Mrs. Deb Erl
Mrs. Erl graduated from Aurora University with a Bachelor degree in Elementary Education. She started her career here at St. Pius as a Kindergarten aide in 2010.  She then obtained her own classroom the following year and has enjoyed working here ever since.  She loves working with children and helping them grow academically throughout the school year.

Mrs. Kate Sagat
Mrs. Sagat attended Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where she got her bachelor's degree in elementary education. She truly enjoys working with children and helping them grow both spiritually and intellectually. Mrs. Sagat is very excited to join the staff of St. Pius X Parish School.

Grade Three

Ms. Katelyn Kott
Ms. Kott graduated from Western Illinois University with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education in 2013.   She loves working with children to help them learn and grow.  Ms. Kott began her career as a classroom aide in first grade. She is excited to head up her own classroom at St. Pius X School.

Mrs. Jessica Jarosinski 
Mrs. Jarosinski graduated from Illinois State University with a B. S. in Elementary Education in 2004.  She began her career in sourther Illinois at Sacred Heart School.  Mrs. Jarosinski also atended Southern Illinois University where she received additional credits.  Mrs. Jarosinski is a member of St. Walter's parish in Roselle.  She is very exicted that she can share her love of children, learning, and teaching with her students and the St. Pius family.

Grade Four

Ms. Jean Berezewski
Ms. Berezewski has taught at St. Pius X Parish School since 2005.  She graduated with a B.A. in Elementary Education with a math concentration from Benedictine University.  She recently completed her Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Concordia University.  After attending Catholic schools growing up, Ms. Berezewski is happy to be a part of the St. Pius community.

Mrs. Katie Rivera
Mrs. Rivera graduated from Elmhurst College in 2002 with a B. A. in Elementary Education. She taught fourth grade at a Catholic school in the Chicago Archdiocese for three years. From there, she continued teaching fourth grade for four years at a public school. During that time, 
she earned her Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Concordia University Chicago. After taking time off to stay home with her two children, she was a substitute teacher at St. Pius for one year. Mrs. Rivera is very excited to be teaching fourth grade again. She is looking forward to working with the outstanding faculty and staff at St. Pius.

Grade Five

Ms. Kathy Magis
Ms. Magis has been at St. Pius X Parish School many years and really enjoys working at St. Pius. She earned her B.S. in education at Northern Illinois University and has a middle school endorsement. She is committed to helping students become lifelong learners and active Christians.

Mrs. Jennifer Tortorello
Mrs. Tortorello earned a B.S. in Elementary Education from Northern Illinois University and a Master's in Educational Leadership from North Central College. Before staying home with her children, she taught for 6 years in the Diocese of Joliet.  She was a substitute teacher for the past 8 years and is excited to return to teaching full time.  Mrs. Tortorello and her husband, Mark, have 3 children currently attending St. Pius X.
