Who is able to participate in Cheerleading?
Student athletes in grades five through eight are allowed to sign up for cheerleading.
What is required for my child to participate?
You must pay the $35 registration fee and your child must have a completed sports physical on file in the school office. Please note that there are no additional fundraisers.
Is there an additional cost for a uniform?
There is no surcharge to purchase a uniform. The Athletic Association provides each student athlete with a uniform top and uniform skirt for the season. At the completion of the season, all student athletes are required to return their uniform to the Athletic Director.
When does the season occur?
The season starts in early August and runs through mid-October.
How many practices will my child have per week?
Your child will have two practices during the week (Wednesday and Friday) to be held immediately after school at Sacred Heart. The Friday practice is used to review the mounts and cheers for the weekend’s game. If this practice is missed, your child will not be able to participate in the half time routine. This is due to a safety reason. Each practice will be an hour and a half in duration.
How many games will my child participate in a season?
The football season consists of a minimum of six (6) and a maximum of eight (8) games during the course of the season.
Games will take place on Sunday’s:
- JV (5th and 6th Grade) - 11:30 AM-1:00 PM
- Varsity (7th and 8th Grade) - 1:00 PM-2:30 PM
- Home games are held at Glenbard East High School and Montini Catholic High School.
- Away games are held in surrounding towns (Elmhurst, Hinsdale, Lisle, and Wheaton).
Are there any volunteer commitments?
At St. Pius X, parents are expected to volunteer at least two times during the season to help satisfy the needs of running the admissions and concession stand at home football games.
What makes our cheerleading program different than other programs?
All student athletes will be required to attend Sunday (8:30 AM) Mass as a team. You cannot cheer in the game on Sunday unless you attend Mass.
Homecoming Activities include: Decorating the Gym, Pep Rally, Caravan, Halftime Dance Routine, and Post-Game Picnic.
